A handful of local track and field stars competed last Friday at Cerritos College in the CIF Masters meet. Thanks to several strong performances, many will return to the same venue Friday and Saturday in pursuit of a state championship.

Poly High freshman Akawkaw Ndipagbor and senior Joey Hughes continued the Jackrabbits' success in the 400 meters with victories in nation-leading times in the CIF State Track & Field Championships at Cerritos College on Friday and Saturday.
